Music Lessons

The Laura Greaves Music School was founded in 1996, in memory of festival co-founder Laura Greaves, to provide tuition in traditional music to children from Hollywood and the surrounding area. Since the foundation of the school the aim of Music Under the Mountains has been to support the teaching of traditional music in the area, with all profits from the festival going to the school. Because of the festival, the school has been able to maintain a small bank of instruments (including fiddles, accordions and flutes) for use by the students.

In 2022 Music Under The Mountains partnered with Music Generation Wicklow to ensure the continued running of the music school.

Music Under The Mountains continue to contribute to the lessons through funds raised during the festival.

The school currently provides tuition in the following instruments:

  • Tin Whistle
  • Flute
  • Fiddle
  • Guitar
  • Accordion
  • Banjo
  • Bodhrán

Classes take place on Saturday mornings, 10.30 to 12.30, over two terms coinciding with the school year.
